Requirements for Telecom Operators

Telecom Operators have to comply with different requirements depending on their role:

  • If a telco is participating only as Network Signal provider (i.e. providing Utiq with an online identifier), the telco must adhere only to the requirement as described in this page.

  • If the telco is also participating as “advertiser/publisher” (i.e. the telco plan to use the Utiq technology on their digital properties, websites or apps, as brand or publisher), the telco must implement also the requirements described in the dedicated section: Requirements for Advertisers and Publishers.

IMPLEMENTATION NOTE: in the text for Telecom Operators transparency, the parts marked with [[...]] should be added when Utiq is enabled also for the telecom operator as advertiser/publisher.

Telecom Operators must have a reference to Utiq in their websites or Privacy Statements. Specifically, Telecom Operators are asked to:

  1. Provide information about the Utiq technology in their sites either by (1) creating a dedicated page/section on their sites in an easily accessible location or (2) include a section on their own privacy statements on their sites

  2. The information provided should cover information about the Utiq technology, how to manage it and about their involvement in the Utiq ecosystem. See proposed text below. Implement the wording that matches the language of your site

  3. Ensure direct hyperlinks as highlighted to “Utiq Privacy Statement” and “Utiq consenthub” are available to the user within the information provided and point to the correct source:

  4. As part of their set up as a Network Signal provider, Network Operators also need to share the direct hyperlink to the relevant page/section including Utiq technology information as detailed above once implemented
